Ultrasound allows high quality, non-invasive imaging of the abdomen and chest. Many problems can be accurately diagnosed without anesthesia such as heart disease, liver disease, and bladder stones, to name a few.
Duluth Animal Hospital has a certified acupuncturist on staff. Acupuncture is used to treat a wide variety of ailments. Acupuncture needles stimulate nerves and move energy around the body. This therapy can alleviate pain associated with arthritis. It can also help with kidney function and stimulate the immune system.
High-tech fiber optics permits direct visual examination and biopsies of your pet’s gastrointestinal system. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral, esophageal, stomach, colon and even upper intestinal tract disease. Foreign objects can also be removed without the need for surgery.
Lasers are a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgery. Lasers replace scalpels in many procedures, and are useful for a wide range of conditions, such as cyst, tumor, and wart removal, and can even be used in declawing. Laser procedures result in less pain; less bleeding and less swelling. They reduce risk of infection and result in less post-operative discomfort.
We welcome your pets to our newly renovated boarding facility! We provide clean, comfortable accommodations in a climate controlled, state of the art facility. We treat your pets like our children and want their experience to be as safe and happy as possible by providing one-on-one attention and multiple walks every day. You are welcome to bring your own food, bedding, and treats, although we provide these. We also offer care for diabetic boarders. (These patients are cared for by the medical team; therefore these prices differ from regular boarding fees.)
Typically most pets do well when boarded. Others may experience separation anxiety and become stressed during boarding. We closely monitor these boarders and watch for symptoms such as lack of appetite, diarrhea, sneezing, or self trauma. If a pet exhibits these symptoms we will attempt to contact you, but if unable to we will treat and advise you when you return. We will make sure your pet is as healthy and happy as possible while you are away!
Duluth Animal Hospital's groomer, Joyce Bagley, received her Master Groomer Certifiate in November 1991. She joined our hospital in 1992 and is available Monday through Friday. Call for appointments early, as she frequently has pets scheduled a week or more in advance. Joyce also advises owners to begin brushing their pet's coat and teeth at an early age, along with touching their feet and face area. This will become a normal part of their grooming regime, making it easier to groom them over the years. Plus, they love the one-on-one attention you will give them as soon as they become a member of the family!
Our grooms include the bath, hair cut, nail trims, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression. We offer cuts from full summer shave-downs to "mini" grooms in the fall and winter. We also have quite a few "seniors" that come for grooming, with various health issues. Joyce is very conscientious and will help make them comfortable to enjoy their "spa" experience. Joyce welcomes all breeds, shapes, and sizes. She has had the pleasure of doing generations of pets with our clients, and she treats all pets as if they were her own - lots of TLC!
Treat your pet to a luxurious bath! Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris and odor – your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. We also offer medicated baths to help relieve itching due to allergies, skin irritations, or infections. Nail trims and ear cleaning are included with bathing services.
