Dr. Miller was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended the University of California, Davis where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science and agriculture. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis in 1990. After graduation, Dr. Miller completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at North Carolina State.
Dr. Miller joined Duluth Animal Hospital in 1994. In 2004, he purchased the hospital from Dr. Dickinson, and is enjoying keeping the clients, patients, and staff in the best of care. The hospital is celebrating 37 years of service, and has grown from a 1-doctor to a 6-doctor practice. We are one of 6 AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accredited hospitals out of 63 hospitals in Gwinnett.
In addition to veterinary medicine he enjoys fishing, reading, snow skiing and spending time with his family.
Dr. Niagro recieved her Veterinary degree from the University of Georgia, where she also completed her internship. She received her Masters degree in Applied Biology and Physiology from the University of South Carolina.
She began working at Duluth Animal Hospital in 1997. Her special interests include ultrasonography and internal medicine.
Dr. Holson was born and raised in South Carolina. She received her Bachelors of Science degree from Furman University in Greenville, SC. She graduated from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary medicine in 2006 where she received an award for excellence in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery and the Avian Medicine Excellence award.
Dr. Holson's special interests include soft tissue surgery, behavior and dermatology. She is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. At home she is an avid runner and enjoys traveling and outdoor activities with her husband David and their dogs Alfie & Pippin.
Dr. Diehl grew up in central Florida. She began her veterinary career as a Veterinary Technician for several years at a specialty practice in Georgia.
She then received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from University of Kennesaw, and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UGA in 2007. Her special interests are orthopedics and ultrasound.
Dr. Diehl lives with her husband, 4 children, 2 dogs & 3 cats. She enjoys cooking, reading, weight lifting and spending time with the family.
Dr. Sokol was born and raised in N.J. and has lived most of her life on the "Jersey Shore." She attended Emory University where she earned double degrees in Biology and Philosophy. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 – Go Buckeyes! Dr. Sokol previously owned her own solo practice for 15 years but is now thrilled to join the amazing team at Duluth Animal Hospital. Her areas of special interest are oncology (chemotherapy) and dermatology – especially treating pets with severe allergies. When not practicing Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Sokol enjoys spending more time with her two young children and "hits the beach" whenever possible.
Dr. Higgins earned her Bachelor's degree in biology (with a minor in dance) from Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga. She attended the University of Georgia for her degree in Veterinary Medicine. She previously practiced in Suwanee and did emergency and critical care in Atlanta. Her special interests include feline medicine and critical care. Dr. Higgins lives in Suwanee with her husband, two dogs (black lab, Brian, and hound, Ellie) and three cats (Slinky, Max, and Bernie). When she's not working, Dr. Higgins enjoys spending time with her family, dancing and home renovations.
Chris joined the hospital in 1990 as a receptionist, worked for years in a supervisory capacity, and was promoted to manager of the hospital in 2004 which she truly enjoys. Chris has completed the American Animal Hospital Association's Veterinary Practice Leadership program, and plans to continue her education in hospital management. She is a member of AAHA, the Greater Atlanta Veterinary Manager's Association, and the Veterinary Hospital Manager's Association, Inc.
She has one son who is a Gwinnett County Police Officer. Their pet family includes a Chihuahua-Yorkie named Izzy, and the two newest girls, an American Bulldog named Ryder, and pitbull named Stella! (Izzy still thinks she is the head-of-the household). She has also recently joined the bird world with a pair of budgies, a pair of red-rumped parakeets, and the cutest little Green Cheek Conure named Kiko. Chris enjoys traveling, horseback riding, raising orphaned squirrels, camping, fishing, and spending time with family, friends, and pets.

Michael has been working with Duluth Animal Hospital since 2013 and is our technician supervisor. He studied veterinary technology at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN. He lives with his Bull Mastiff, Eleanor, and also keeps a salt water reef tank. He enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, fishing, and spending time on the lake. He also enjoys working on cars and racing in his free time.
Connie is a true southern Georgia Peach, born and raised in the Atlanta area. She graduated from Advanced Career Training in 1980. After working in the travel industry and customer service for many years, she joined Duluth Animal Hospital in 1993.
She is married, with one son and a beautiful grandson.She is also the proud parent of a rescued chihuahua and one Yorkie. She enjoys shopping, going to the mountains and look forward to each new sunrise and the opportunity to be the best person she can be.
Christi was born in Atlanta, Ga and moved to Duluth in 1984.
She began working in Veterinary Medicine at the age of 15 and came to Duluth Animal Hospital in 1992. Christi maintains our food and special order supplies. She is a true animal lover and the proud and protective parent of 6 Chihuahuas named Cricket, Cierra, Mariah, Kenya, Bitsy, and Pete!
In addition to working at the hospital, Christi also does pet sitting in her spare time. Her other hobbies include shopping, going to the beach, shopping, gambling, shopping, spending time with friends and family, and more shopping!
Barbara joined Duluth Animal Hospital in 1998. In addition to helping make sure our clients are well cared for, she maintains our office supplies, and many times keeps the front staff entertained! She has 2 Chihuahas, Bella, and Lily.
Barbara graduated from the University of Florida, then owned a furniture and design store in Charlotte, N.C. and retired when she moved to Duluth. She is married with 2 children and 4 grandsons.
Her hobbbies are her children (2 legged and 4 legged), needlepoint, quilting, working in her garden, and boating with her family.
Allison is the newest member of the reception staff and fits in perfectly! She loves spending time with her three daughters and taking her three four-legged babies to the dog park - Bree, the Jack Russell, Myles, the rescued greyhound, and Nike, the whippet.
Sandra joined our staff in 2001 as a part-time receptionist. She started with us originally because of her large love of animals, while still working full-time at Duluth High School. Upon her retirement from the school in 2008, she began full-time with us. She has MANY animals of her own, and most are rescues. Her favorite breed is the Bassett Hound! She enjoys meeting our clients and their pets, and always wants to be hands-on! :o)
Alicia has been with Duluth Animal Hospital since 2008. She is currently working part-time while going to college.
Her career plan is to work with animals! Alicia has a love of all animals which shows in her pet family: She has dogs (including a rescued Pitbull with whom she shares her heart), parrots, bunnies, and the loveable pair Penny Chicken and Roo the Chihuahua, who have become quite the celebrities!
Aside from her love of animals she has a strong interest in photography and writing.
Brittany is also working part-time as she finishes her college degree in the field of nursing. She has been with the hospital since 2011. She currently shares her heart with a tiny lovebird with a HUGE personality and a rescued two-legged chihuahua named Roo. She is also very practiced on several musical instruments, including the clarinet and piano.
Stephanie has returned to us after her husband, Seth's, military deployment and we're thrilled to have her back! She operates as our kennel manager and also helps us in the reception area.
Family is extremely important - she's one of three sisters! - and she loves her dogs, Harper the Aussie and Duke the Golden Retriever, and her three cats, Kitty, Olive, and LuLu.
Vicki has worked in veterinary medicine for 15 years and recently transferred to us from Berkley Lake Animal Hospital. She currently has three children and four granddaughters. She also has a huge Great Pyrenees named Sampson and five cats named Hugh, Mr. Man, Molly, Skippy, and Heffner.
Penny Chicken was rescued at nine weeks old and began riding to the hospital with her mom for work during the day. She fit right in and now patrols the reception area with her best friend, Roo, laying eggs and chatting with clients.
Roo was born missing his front two legs and found in a ditch. After being brought to the hospital he was adopted by Penny Chicken's mom, and he and Penny became fast friends. He travels with Penny to work and plays behind the desk during the day.
Courtney has worked in veterinary medicine since 2002. She joined Duluth Animal Hospital in 2006.
Her interests in vet medicine include blood cytology and microscopic work.
She has a cat named Penelope and loves music!
Katie has worked for years with the hospital, beginning with the kennel, and now helping as a technician. Her family has been long-time clients with the hospital and their many pets are taken care of here.
Her four-legged family include four large dogs - three Golden Retrievers, Ty, Sampson, and Millie, as well as a Goldendoodle, Andie. She also has four large kitties!
Katie works with the Adopt-A-Golden Rescue to find homes for Goldens in need.
Mariana has been with us for two years and is newly married to her husband, Damon. She began her internship here and was hired on after she completed technician school. Mariana shares her home with two cats, Rodger and Chewi.
She enjoys taking pictures, visiting the park, and of course - working with animals! As one of five children, she loves spending lots of time with her family, and feels God has truly blessed her life!.
Julie began her work with us as an internship from technician school and was hired to the hospital afterward. She has a diverse group of pets, including Vader the black lab, Max the dachshund, Angel the Cockatiel, and Sunshine the horse.
She enjoys tennis, motorcycle rides, and hanging out with her awesome kids Mattigan and Jacob!
Chelsea did part of her internship here with us at Duluth Animal Hospital, and was hired shortly thereafter – and we’re so happy to have her! She will work with us on the weekends until she completes her time at Gwinnett Technical College, and then will join us full-time.
April was born and raised in New Jersey. While she doesn't currently have any pets, she's looking forward to adopting a dog very soon! She enjoys working with animals and spending time with family, and her veterinary interests include neurology and eye care.
Diana Sanders – Having worked in veterinary medicine for many years, Diana gained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in Colombia originally. Here now, she is assisting as a technician while she works to complete certification in the United States. She spends her free time with her own three dogs and children.
Kat was born in Aiken, South Carolina. She recently moved to Georgia following her husband, Daniel, and his new job promotion. She graduated from the University of South Carolina, Aiken with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. Growing up a true country girl on her family’s farm, she has a large pet family. She and Daniel currently share their home with three dogs (Lexi, Daisy, and Damon), a gecko named Goku, and their newest member, a cat named Achilles. She enjoys horseback riding, reading, music, and hiking with family.
Jo Anne was born and raised in New York and has worked in the Veterinary Medicine field since 2003. She has two dogs, Mena the Pomeranian and Gadge the Chow/Lab, the and two cats, Nubbz and Bishop the Russian Blues, along with a bearded dragon named Drago. She loves spending her free time with her two sons, Jason and Dante!
Ariel is currently a biology major at Georgia Gwinnett College, and shares her home with several four-legged and feathered friends, including 3 birds, a horse named Phoenix, a Boston Terrier named Bella, a Border Collie mix named Jager, and a cat named Wolfie.
She enjoys horseback riding with Phoenix and reading.
Rebekah is working with our kennel pets part time while she attends college. She has been around animals her entire life and is mom to a shepherd/chow mix named Singer as well as a rescued, mated Eclectus parrot pair named Finnigan and Scarlett. In her free time she enjoys running, playing violin, reading, and watching movies.
Kendall is the daughter of our own Dr. Diehl, and is working here while finishing high school. She has three dogs and one cat at home, enjoys running and horseback riding, and plans to attend college after graduation. She’s the oldest child with three younger brothers and has been a great addition to our staff!
Lauren has been working with us for many years, and still helps take care of our boarders and overnight guests during the weekend hours. She has three dogs – Mary, Zeus, and a little mixed breed named Judy that Lauren rescued after her original owner passed away, as well as a really neat bearded dragon.
Angel has joined our kennel staff team while she attends college at Georgia Gwinnett and majors in pre-veterinary medicine. She has a tiny Chihuahua named Zeus and plays guitar in her free time.
Skylar has been working at Duluth Animal Hospital for three years, mainly during the summers in our boarding kennel area. She is attending Georgia State University in pursuit of the nursing profession and has just adopted a new member of the family – a beagle-mix puppy named Izzy.
Derek Niagro – Derek is a new addition to the kennel staff here at Duluth Animal Hospital. The son of our Dr. Beth Niagro, he has been around animals his entire life and enjoys working with them on a personal level.
Joyce is proud to say that she is a native of the Atlanta area. She is a single mother of two teenage daughters and six chihuahuas. After working as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines for thirteen years, she was given another opportunity to fulfill her other passion....working with animals.
She graduated from Pet Boutique Grooming School in 1991. She has been grooming at Duluth Animal Hospital since graduation.
Each day it is her desire to bring comfort and beauty to each pet that she grooms.
